lol. Like most people, I hate when songs are blended together and I hate DJ's and tags over songs. They do this so you don't really get anything but a preview for free and will buy the final product when it comes out...... problem is, most of this stuff isn't going to be on an album or for sale in the foreseeable future.... it's whatever but the sound quality of the songs has got me more than anything... Some sound like they were recorded on ca$sette, through the telephone or a camcorder. The one that bothers me most is Under The Bridge, the youtube video had better audio then the version on the mixtape.
95% of the people that are going to download this are TQ fans already and they probably already have all of the songs from his albums so they were just unneeded fillers. I get this mixtape was made as a promotional tool to attract non TQ fans while trying to please current TQ fans as well as promote some new ventures TQ is working on. Unfortunately the sound quality is too terrible on most of the songs for the average person to listen more than once or twice. I know a lot of people are like me and if the sound quality is crap, it completely ruins the song and I would rather listen to something else. Add to that the blending and DJ shouts it will completely turn most people from adding any of these songs to their mp3 playlists, leaving this mixtape quickly forgotten. That leaves the fanatics being the only ones to give this mixtape multiple spins. Unfortunately for us though we already had all but a handful of the songs and are plagued with the same gripes I just mentioned.
As for the songs themselves:
My Blood - cool song, nothing special, I could probably get into this but the sound quality is terrible. sounds like rigntone being played through someones phone
Bad bit©h - I like this track but the quality is poor. sounds muffled. Also has to be a snippet, only 2:35 sounds like a verse is missing.
Under The Bridge - I can't listen to it because the sound quality is too terrible. sounds like someone played it on a boombox and recorded it with a tape recorder.
Gangsta (Snippet) - ok, more like a guest appearance song we would get. This actually has one of the best sound qualities on the mixtape... and it's a snippet.... suspect
The Floor - I'm not into those dance beat songs.
Break It Down - Excellent. It has that "eww ewww" background vocals that he used on another song I think from Kind Of Blue or Paradise I can't think of it right now.. I'm guessing this is a leftover. Shame seems we won't get a full cd quality version of this.
The Letter - Another really good one. Reminds me of Mannie Fresh: The Cash Money/Gemini era. A bit soft so I will probably skip over it a lot depending on the mood.
There's some other good non album songs on here like Thin Line and Hollywood RMX but you know we've had them for a long time so it doesn't add anything to the tape.
The biggest fail of the mixtape is no Hotel California. You have to drop the single.... tag the sh!t out of it but put it on there!
If there's one artist that knows what's up when dropping mixtapes it's The Game. He drops a mixtape then a couple weeks later he releases a NO DJ version with no blending. Just track after track good quality audio selections that will go nicely into your own personal mp3 playlists or cd mixtape and keeps me from forgetting about him too quickly.
GOLDEN RULES FOR A GOOD MIXTAPE:
#1 include at least the lead single from the upcoming album if no other songs
#2 you may tag the sh!t out of any song on the upcoming album or previously released albums or any song that is released that they can get without tags
#3 DO NOT tag, blend-in, blend-out or voiceover exclusive songs that are not released or going to be released soon. This only pisses people off.
I would say the mixtape is about what I expected, some released songs, some rare songs, some unheard songs, blending and voiceovers fu©king up your ability to enjoy a song... but i didn't expect really sh!tty sound quality on most of the songs. fail
it's time for a 2012 Thug Poetry mixtape LOL
