Qu, I don't necessarily agree with you on the music and movies comparison, but I understand what you mean. In my opinion, music shouldn't be an act, like how movies are. I guess what I mean by this is, if musicians act like themselves through their lyrics and talk about whatever they want (money, cars, politics, whatever), then I understand why they do it, but it's still not gonna relate to their fans... I personally enjoy listening to the instrumental versions of all the money/cars/girls songs because I think that's what really draws in the listener and the lyrics come second... which I understand, but don't think it should really be that way. It should be equal distribution. It's like if you were to read poetry and think the poetry is garbage but you still like it because of the form that was used to write it (sonnet, pantoum, haiku, whatever). I personally value lyrics over the beat, but even beats nowadays are becoming repetitive (Lil Jon is a prime example... just listen to the beat in Ciara's "Goodies," Petey Pablo's "Freek-a-Leek," and, I think it was either Lil Jon's "Get Low" or the Ying Yang Twins' "Shake It Like a Saltshaker"... maybe both). I understand where you're coming from though, Qu, so no disrespect Josh

Mauzip-
About Angela Jones... it's a heartfelt song. You can hear that in the way it's sung and it's a hard song to sing actually. I'm one of those people that sings under the shower. This is one of my favorite tracks to sing cause it's hard to sing
I wasn't gonna admit it, but since Mauzip did, I will too. Angela Jones is best sung in the shower, haha. And it is extremely hard to sing... I usually run out of breath on some parts. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who spends 30 minutes or so singing TQ's songs in the shower, haha.

How about: Weak Production? I was listenin to Daily earlier & what the fu©k was that keybord noise in the background?... It sounded like a fu©kin child was playin it! If you're over the age of 16 and/or live inside the united states you would remember this beat. It's an old Biz Markie song that's considered one the cla$sic old school hip hop songs. The song had big radio airplay where I was and the album didn't even come out. As far as songs from TNSMC. Those songs I would say TQ had more freedom than any project yet besides Listen. I don't think Bye Bye Baby would have made any sense without the gunshots... that's what the song is about. Better Days could have done without it's gunshot skit. No artist sounds as good on collab's as on one their own songs cuz obviously.... it's not their song... they r a guest appearance....... Any hip hop rnb artist that didnt do collab's would seem egotystical to me. E40 and layzie Bone are hood legends. If u aint from round here u wouldnt understand I guess. e40 and bone been bumpin thru my radio stations constantly since early 90's. I'll say the same thing bout most those type artists he works with. About the people like Big Tymers and Juve talkin bout they money cars, teeth, etc..... Everybody wants money, cars, clothes, and fine bit©hes..... whether u got any or not. Music is somethin to entertain u with. like movies. if u cant listen to a song cuz its about fast cars and money then i dont see how u can watch a movie about fast cars and money. Unless u one them bleeding heart fu©kers that takes every piece of music like it's supposed 2 make your heart full and get you teary eyed.... fu©k that dude, i listen to music all day every day. i listen to rap, rnb, rock, metal, raprock, alternative... sometimes i like comedy, sometimes i like crunk, sometimes i like the sh!t that makes you think. I'm a universal type person. I can relate to anyone. if the music is good, no matter who is on it or what it's about. i can relate. i'm partial to nathan. Ja Rule is a fake a$s Pac wanna be. Even tho he has some dope songs. Angela Jones = great lyrics, great story, weak/boring beat. there's two of my opinions. To add 2 all the ones that's in this topic. First off whats tha Biz Markie track called? I like knowin bits of trivia like that. But the reasons for using that sh!tty little keybord effect are neither here nor there far as im concerned... It still sounds whack... try using a different instrument... DAMN R&B has gon to sh!t in recent years with all these drum machines & synthesised beats... what ever happend to real music??? Stevie & his Piano... Bill Whithers & his acoustic??? The Bye Bye Baby track can sort of be excused 4 the gun shots I guess... although I think the lyrics are kind of self explanatory. ps. did that sh!t really happen??? (his girl gettin shot??) Now on to sum real sh!t... No artist sounds good on a collab??? WTF are you talkin bout??? Have you not heard LL Cool J on Carl Thomas's 'She Is' What about R.Kelly's collaborations with the likes of Ron Isley, Biggie, Nas... etc? ?? What about Biggie on Notorious Thugz??? Or even Jodeci & Pac??? What about the old sh!t like Marvin & Tammi Tarrell??? or Luther & Mariah??? E-40 & Layzie may be 'hood legends'... dont change the fact that they kinda fu?ked them tracks up 4 TQ... especially Layzie!!! That sh!t he was spittin sounded so outta place. & I like Layzie sumtimes so I aint even hatin on him. & Big Tymers are sh!t! I dont care what you say... If you are only able to talk about one thing... MONEY... you are not an artist... cuz you have nothing else left to say... real artists are people who will giv you something a lil more/a lil different in each & everything they do. Like Billie Holiday for example... N U KNOW THAT sh!tS THE TRUTH! & yeh I am one of them 'bleeding heart fu?kers'... so what... One

What about Biggie on Notorious Thugz??? notorious thugs was biggie's song... it was bone thugs who were the guest appearances... a good example would be Eminem on Rengade rappers who constantly spit about money, bit?hes, cars and the rest of their riches are lyrically wack... you need some smart lyrics which mean something, for you as a rapper to mean something... take 50 cent and G-unit for example...... G-UNIT = LYRICALLY WACK (yes, including 50 cent) and that is why 50 cent WILL NOT win a beef against Nas or Jadakiss .... even Ja Rule wud lyrically own 50 cent if Eminem and co. didn't jump in to help...

My Bad... u right Lew... BTH on Big's Notorious Thugz... good lookin
& yeh 50 & G UNIT are weak... so's 90% of todays rappers (the commercial ones anyway)
What ever happened to the dayz where the rap industry was ruled by cats with actual talent... e.g. Big Pun, 2 Pac, Big L, Biggie, ... seems like when they died the most important part of the industry died with them (the talent part)

Usher is a better dancer, no doubt, but i think that its a matter of opinion who is a better singer, usher's vocals have only been strong his last 2 discs, T's vocal talent is a lot less coached and more natural, Usher has had so many voice lessons its untrue. Both great singers, but i think the remake of Adore shows who is the superior vocalist. I agree Of course he (usher) is a better dancer, but like his singing cla$ses he also had dance lessons! He can sing, but raw, natural talent is always better than anything trained!

Training dont make u as good as that unless u had sumthin good in u to begin with! ^^^^ True, he has some talent but take away those voice and dance lessons and Usher would be just another munchkin looking (i.e Sisqo) mediocre singer with a few decent dance moves(by the way he's not the great dancer that people make him out to be) waiting to tape an episode on VH-1's "Where are they Now" .
