Cash Money Records Host Their Fifth Annual Turkey Dinner Give-Away
New Orleans, LA - On Tuesday, November 25, 2003, Cash Moneys' artists, staff, and New Orleans' mayor, The Honorable C. Ray Nagin will host the fifth annual Cash Money Turkey Dinner Giveaway. Ronald 'Slim' Williams, Bryan 'Baby' Williams, Mannie Fresh, and Lil Wayne, will be on hand to give-away 2,000 25lb. turkeys, and Thanksgiving trimmings (green beans, cranberry sauce, cake mix, dinner rolls, dressing, and soft drinks) to those less fortunate in their home town of New Orleans.
In 1991, Cash Money Records CEOs Ronald 'Slim' Williams and Brian 'Baby' Williams launched a successful multi-million dollar record label. In 1998, the brothers created the Johnny & Gladys Williams Foundation, named in memory of their deceased parents; committing themselves to giving back to the community in New Orleans. The foundation donates food, offers academic scholarships and provides housing opportunities.
Cash Money has also launched "Cash Money For Kids," an organization designed to reward New Orleans students of academic achievement with tickets to the Hornets' basketball team home games and accompany them in their skybox during the game. "Education is important, and Baby and I want to reward those kids who are doing well in school, this is just one way for us to do that," states Slim.
Ronald and Bryan have tried to purchase the infamous Magnolia projects and have run into tremendous red tape. Relentless and refusing to be moved, the brothers made a way for the sick and elderly residents of the Magnolia projects to live rent-free.
Bryan has always been noted for performing random acts of kind giving. He has and still carouses the 'hood' and hand out money to many. Baby states, "I know what it is to not have anything and I can't stand to see other people suffer like that, so, I go in my pocket and hand out twenty dollar bills to the kids and hundred dollar bills to the single moms." Through the "Make A Wish Foundation" Bryan also granted a terminally ill young man his wish of meeting the rap star.
This fall, the Williams Brothers were honored by Jamie Brown of Sister 2 Sister Magazine at her annual "Intergenerational Event." Bryan and Democratic Congressman Charles Rangel were made life long fraternal-brothers, responsible for utilizing their brotherhood to bridge gaps between the two generations and proving viable resources to one another in hip-hop and politics.
On Tuesday, December 9th Bryan 'Baby' Williams and Mannie Fresh will release their fourth Big Tymers album, Big Money Heavy Weight, but will break from promoting for their fifth annual Turkey Giveaway.
