I'm from ireland, and so far every english or scotish person i've met has been sound, and none of them had a posh accent, they've been like people you meet from all over the world, each with their own story and background, each able to relate to those around them, none of tehm skangers/scumbags or poshies, they've been sound, down to earth people! But yeah, you're right, most of the british you see on american films and stuff do talk like that! Which is a shame because it sends out a bad message and creates stereo-types! Take will smith (english comedian, not THE will smith that i'm sure people will a$sume i was talking about) for example, he was on a show in scotland, "the fringe festival" i think, and he was one of these people with a posh voice and came across as a twat, but nevertheless, he was funny, but the stereo-type of the voice is there! And then there's Hugh Grant, well-known english actor, with a fu?king 30 inch diameter pole up his a$s, di?khead! I'm sorry, a bit personal and harsh there, but he annoys me, that's the voice that creates stereo-types and i'm sure Squeeze is on about, people see him and think, "oh, england must be a very well spoken, polite country", or, "jesus, england's full of fu?king queers and f@gs", whereas, it's not, but they're mainly the people you see, and that's wrong! So yeah, british people i've met seem sound and don't have them posh accents that you get EVERYWHERE anyway!
Peace!

check english guys on american programs and films, they all talk like they got a stick wedged between their a$s cheeks. And check irish guys on american tv too, we're not all drunks with unshaven faces, lazy eyes, crooked backs, ginger hair, freckles and paddy hats that only were green, i hate the colour green and ginger people! sh!t, check any country on american tv except americans! America creates the stereo-types that the world follows! I was actually asked before if leprechauns were real! I laughed, said yeah, you'll catch them at 4 in the morning in sligo, and then walked off pissing myself laughing the fu?king stupidity of that question! Are leprechauns real??!! Ha, stupidity at it's highest! But there you go, another stereo-type at the hands of the americans!

my mother is english and I have a lot of family in England, and they don't speak posh at all. but a lot of people that i know do think that. but I think that is also because we learn english at school and we hav cd's were someone says something and you have to repeat it, and they speak very very very posh. and you can't really hear when a girl is talking or a boy.
I think that most English people are very funny and friendly.
oh, and everyone always says dutch people are greedy.

UK! Every time I ever mention UK to anyone they go 'Kentucky?' then you say United Kingdom and they're like 'Oh' with a puzzled look on their face cuz they don't know sh!t about it. Seriously I don't think 99% of americans know anything about uk. We just know of it.
