This ones tricky. The review will have to be for the version TQ released in November of 2007 on snocap. This version is very different than the demo version originally planned back in 2003. Most of the songs from the 2003 version have been released on other projects. TQ promised to release Gemini so I understand why the snocap version was filled with so many different songs. People would have been upset to pay for a new album filled with music released on other TQ albums. So TQ obviously filled the album with other songs recorded during the Gemini sessions.
Back in 2003 TQ was releasing 17 track albums that included melodic intros and interludes as fillers. So yeah, still only 12 track albums.
As far as the 2007 snocap version goes... it sounds more like the watered down choice of songs that a big label would like the stereo-typical R&B singer to release, rather than the TQ album we all know and want. Just a couple of the songs here make the album worth buying, but if youre expecting to love every track and get that cla$sic TQ style.. you might be dissapointed.
Track list and notes:
1. The Ghetto featuring Lil Wayne (Boss track, always one of my picks. Should have been released as a single. The falsetto and Lil Weezy F Baby fits perfectly)
2. AllIWantIsU (This is an ok TQ track. Wasnt on the demo but its not bad, sounds like a cut)
3. Dolce Vita (This track is one of two that stands out from the rest of the Gemini tracks. I think I remember TQ saying this track was for his Europe album Resurrectin.. or his new album which would have been "Listen". Either way it didnt come out, Im guessin samplin problems. 10)
4. All The Way Mine (this wasnt on the demo version I had but its a pretty decent track and was listed as being on the album by a couple magazine articles, so it was on an even earlier demo version than what I heard)
5. Nuthin (This was a favorite by some people of the Gemini cuts. It took some time to grow on me. I liked the track but it wasnt a knock out to me at first. It did grow on me and became a favorite after time.)
6. Don't Stop (This is one of my least favorite tracks on both versions of the album Ive heard. Just a little too slow and traditional for me)
7. Lady (Not a bad track at all. Not a favorite but its not a skipper.)
8. I'd Rather Be With U (This sounds very traditional to me. But I really like it alot. It has a unique style of R&B that hits home with me)
9. IV Life (this ones 50/50 with me. Some days I really like this track, others it seems to bring my mood down and I gotta skip it. Mood Musik)
10. So Lonely (This just sounds a little too plain. Somethings missing. Beat Sounds unfinished)
11. Hotel California (Def one my favorite TQ tracks. The 2nd stand out track on this cd. TQ rips the Eagles version. I wont even listen to their version anymore. This track was recorded for the Paradise album but due to the Eagles hatin... it couldnt be released. So Bonus track it on snocap. works for me. Too bad it couldnt be released as a single)
Overall thats a out of 5
