Hey I don't know if I've ever said any of this or if it was ever necessary, but I need the most important people in my mix to understand some things about me and my career at this point. Ok... First off I have written every song that I've released that wasn't a cover. Every song that I've even sang a verse on, I published at least 25%. I did not buy a Rolls Royce. I did not spend a million dollars on Jewelry and clothes. I don't have a plane, boat, rocket ship, or any silly superstar splurge sh!t. I've taken what I've made from music and invested pretty well. Good enuff to allow me to live comfortably in the midst of a terrible economy and a failing music industry. I have done my work. I can make music and give it to the people on my block and call it a day if ur talkin bout what makes me happy. Financially, I've eaten off things that music has built for me. Not just music itself. Up until 2 years ago, ALL those songs that I wrote on myself and everybody else, I had to split a percentage with Sony Music Publishing. At the end of that deal I had made them a sh!tload and one for myself also. That deal is over. All my music belongs to me now... I'm saying all this to say this... I don't NEED to do music in 2009. I do it because I love it, I love you, and we got some unfinished biz...
There is a fine line between music and bizness tho. I know a lot of u wish that I was with Universal or Interscope or one of these huge companies and I took some meetings just to check the landscape. No way. Sorry... Not even for u guys. It's the principle...There is no way I'd play myself and work this hard for a couple quarters per record. Not me not ever. On the flipside, even with some level of distribution, a lotta u guys cant find the records when they come out, so imagine the situation if there was no distribution at all. Point is, I'm doing what I'm doing now for u guys. My fans... The music biz in 09 is straight bullsh!t, but some people especially on this site, have supported me in one way or the other for 10 years or better so I'm still at it. I get it. The only way u can get some TQ type sh!t is from me and I'm still gonna be here giving it to u.
I signed a distribution deal with Affiliated/E1 so that they could help me get this new album to everyone in the US and Canada that wants to buy it. Thaz it! I have no a$surances just as I wouldn't with any label, distributor, promoter, Tour bus driver, roady, background singer, cook, or pretty much anything else these days. sh!t's drying up. People ain't buying records. They're going to shows. Companies aren't just signing artists for their records. Now they want a cut of ur touring, merchandising, endorsements, and publishing... NIGGA PLEASE! I look like Kunta Kenta? That will never happen peeps. Do me a favor and cool out for a little while. I'm doing my best to make "Kind of Blue" available to ALL my fans EVERYWHERE. Gimmie a little patience...

My new single is "Electronic". It was gonna be "Centerfold" but some fu?kboy in Bremen put it up on his site so thaz a wrap. Be a miracle, if it makes the album. Thaz why I put the snip up. I put up "Pop Pop" cuz that sh!t is fu?kin hot and real as it gets. and it's the 1st song on the Album... But as I said I'm doing this for my Die Hardz. U don't like snippetts and I promise u won't hear another one. Deal?
The song "Kind of Blue" from my Facebook page WILL NOT be on the album. I can only put so many songs on a CD and that one is not in the top 18 or 19. Period.
All in all u've heard "Dirty Diana" which Mike murdered WAY b4 my little attempt at it... Thaz all u've heard so far from this record. Now I worked with some new producers on this album and they have copies of records. Bottom line is if u hear those anywhere b4 Feb 9th thaz the only place u'll hear them cuz they WILL NOT be on this album. Deal? That should take care of the leakers for the most part...
Either way, I know it's been frustrating... I know there's a void for the kind of music that I make and when u want it, u want it. Point is I'm not gonna sell out to get it to u. Before I let some Blacksuit jerk me on a deal, I'd just give u the music for free. It's a lot less work...
Fans at home say that I send all my time everywhere else. Thaz why I'm addressing them personally. Thaz whay I did a deal for America. The US, Europe, Asia, and Oz will see me next year. 2010 is all about touring with my band... Gimmie a minute to put it all together.
I have been quiet on the board cuz I just get sick of trying to explain why sh!t in the indie world changes so much. It's frustrating to me as much as u... Left up to me we'd talk football until Feb 9th. When I see promo people from my distributor and my fans/moderators bickering it's time to say something... Guys we are on some different sh!t. I have what the industry calls a "cult following" the same peeps who bought the 1st bought the 2nd and so on. I didnt pay attention to that when I was at majors cuz who figured it was necessary? Now I see its very necessary...
Pretty soon there will be no labels. At least not in the sense that they are today. Soon all of our bizness will be conducted between us. Artist to Fan and vice versa. It's not there yet...
But it's coming... We just gotta have a little patience.
