1.No better love - 1/10. I hate this song. sorry i just do. I hate the beat. I hate the lyrics. I hate the rap in it. Thank god there's not another song like this on the album 2.Bad Man - 7/10. Decent song. It's not a song that really catches my ear. It might've got a little higher rating if mystikal wasnt on it. 3.California Dreamin - 9/10. This song grew on me alot. When it first came out as the single I wasn't sure about it. 4.In My Eyes - 10/10. I Love the intensity of this song. It's definitely on my workout playlist. I wouldve loved to hear BTNH on this track! 5.Legendary - 10/10. Could possibly be my most favorite song of all time. The realness in the lyrics is untouchable. He lets it be known that music ain't what it used to be. U just dont't hear soul on the radio anymore. 6.I wish - 9/10. Very solid song. I was amped about hearing the song T leaked it on youtube. This song will definitely get more plays on my playlist! 7.The pusher - 10/10. I've had this song on repeat on and off for the last few days. It remind me of curtis mayfield's "pusherman" even though T is not actually talkin about drugs here lol 8.Head - 8.5/10. Im not usually big on songs like this but i do love head (pun intended) lol. I made my girl listen to it today. she didnt like it as much lol. 9.Nikki Ray - 6/10. Decent song. It reminds me of the song "3 Women". That's all i gotta say about it. 10.Heartbeat - 8/10. I didnt like this song at first but it grew on me a lil bit. It's alot better than anything gettin radio lay right now. 11.Good life - 8.5/10. I'm feelin this song. It starts sounding like a rock song a lil bit in the song. It's got a different sound to it than most of this album. 12.Star - 9/10. Great song! This song might have got a 9.5 or maybe even a 10 if mikkey wasn't on it. Mikkey is one of my top 10 favorite rappers but he didnt fit well on this song. Loved him on "pop pop" and "soulja" though! 13.Right Here - 10/10. Definitely one of my favorite songs songs on the album! When I lay bleedin on the bed. If I weren't for u I'd prolly be dead!!! Love That sh!t!! Is the "man right chea" a dedication to mystikal? maybe not. I might be the only one that heard the mystikal cd in full lol. 14.Long Kiss Goodnight - 7/10. Alright song. Once again better than anything on the radio. 15. Bonus Tracks 7/10 - Wouldve loved to got some bonus tracks that us hardcore TQ fans didnt already have but oh well. I Love Under the bridge but not too crazy about the sade song and I've always HATED the eagles version of hotel california. TQ makes a little better but not much.

Good breakdown Nick. I agree with most of your analysis. Probably disagree with Heartbeat the most but it may grow on me. I'm going to list my most favorite to least favorite and include tiers. I'd say first is excellent, second is above average, 3rd is average, and 4th is below average. Some are still growing on me so this could change a little. I, like many of you, probably had very high expectations for this album...especially as a follow-up to Kind of Blue and, well, because of the title I'm sure. It's funny, had any other artist made an album with 8 of 14 above average songs, we'd be flipping out. Here's to keeping it all in perspective. Cheers to TQ, all of you, and those in the UK waiting on the album. Enjoy! I know I am.
(FIRST TIER) 1) Legendary (the Westside, Paradise, Hollywood, etc of this album) 2) I Wish (Banger) 3) California Dreamin (Great beat, if lyrics matched it'd be top 5 all-time TQ song--still damn good) 4) Good Love--one of TQ's more creative songs
(2ND TIER) Star 1) Star (if it wasn't for unnecessary the "video game" sounds, would probably be 1st TIER) 2) In My Eyes 3) Right Here 4) The Pusher
(3rd TIER) 1) Heartbeat 2) Long Kiss Goodnight 3) Bad Man
(4th TIER) 1) Head 2) No Better Love 3) Nikki Ray
Bonus tracks: ehh, we all know them.

My album should be with me in the UK any day now. Is this album more like tnsmc or more like a kind of blue? Also how would you guys with the album rate it against TQs other albums like Listen etc.

In my eyes, star and the pusher are great. Legendary and california dreamin are good. Everything else is just ok. My opinion. Dissapointing overall.
I'm not feeling all the love songs. some of the songs have great production and i like the rock influence but the subject matter killed half the songs. T doesn't have a pa$sion for love and its obvious in the singing of those songs. It feels forced like he's just singing lyrics for work

Not sure about the songs with the 'love' subject... but the rest sounds very good... I love the title track... If T would release an album filled with songs like that, it would probably be my favorite album of all time. I haven't heard the album enough to judge it properly, so I'll give some more thought about it later :-)

So mine arrived today! It took my Mac a while to read it as it seems quite a cheap burn. Finally got there though! This album is going to be tough to look at objectively as it's been hyped for nearly a year and we'd heard most of the tracks (or snippets) already. Definitely up to the usual standard though and I think it'll be a grower like 'Kind of Blue'. Will be back later with a full review...!

After 4 or 5 spins none of the songs are really standing out. I will have to listen to it few more times i guess. The only thing that I can say is that over all feeling of this album is better than KOB, i was so dissapointed with that album and these days i only listen to 2 or 3 songs from it on regular bases.
My rating for this album coming later

I'm from the UK and my copy still hasn't arrived yet... Getting worried. What's the actual cd quality like? I remember the kob cd wasn't as loud as a regular retail cd.

My copy arrived the other day,but I've only a 2 listens all the way through so far. Liking bad man so far,California dreams,legendary ,good love and right here. I really wish this album and KOB were more like TNSMC,but I'm guessing TQ is never going to make music like that again. It's a shame as I find it hard to think of T as someone who makes ,love songs. Still these songs are amazing , I just wish there was one of two street tracks. Also nice to hear TQ use a bit of the prince song , Darling NIkki on NIkki Ray.

1. No Better Love -> In the same league as Bad Girl and Put It In My Lap. Horrible song. Even Gillie's verse is disappointing. 1/10
2. Bad Man -> Like the beat, like the lyrics... Even like Mystikal, even though I have no idea what he raps about. The video should be good. 7/10
3. California Dreamin' -> Great song! Great lyrics, great music, great video. 10/10
4. In My Eyes -> I'm not sure what to think of this song. Lyrically it's good... I like the way some parts of the verses are sung, but I don't like the high pitched parts of the verses. The chorus is ok. I'm sure if they had twisted this song here and there it would have been much better. Some songs need time to be fully appreciated. Maybe this is one of them, but for now I rate it 5/10
5. Legendary -> Great song. Likely to "stand the test of time". 10/10
6. I Wish -> Fly Pt. 2! Typical TQ lyrics. The beat is good, but a song like this doesn't need a hard hitting beat like this... The guitar is nice though. 7.5/10
7. The Pusher -> Skipper. 3/10
8. Head -> Skipper. 3/10
9. Nikki Ray -> Skipper. 2/10
10. Heartbeat -> A bit better than the songs above, but I still skip it. 4/10
11. Good Love -> Some of TQ's best songs are those that have to grow on you. This is one of those. I didn't like it much at first, but I've caught myself listening to this song just as much as the other good songs from this album. Great guitar too. 9/10
12. Star -> Great song. 9/10
13. Right Here -> I love the melody, the beat and the vocals, but the lyrics... TQ is a great song writer, but can we please get a break from this subject? 7.5/10
14. Long Kiss Goodnight -> Not a watered down love song. Grown man sh!t. 8/10
Overall I find the album disappointing. The album has some plusses and minusses, but 8 out of 14 is just not a good score...
Minusses: *The subject matter on a lot of the songs take away from the album (No Better Love, Nikki Ray, Head, Right here). *Bad beat choice on some songs (I Wish, No Better Love, Head)
Plusses: *Some songs have great writing (Long Kiss Goodnight, Legendary, I Wish, California Dreamin). *The songs where TQ's band is heavily featured are a nice little surprise. *Looks like there are again some timeless songs on a TQ album (Legendary, California Dreamin, Good Love, Star).

The songbook turned up this week, I've gotta say its a great side to the album and makers you appreciate the album more. Its full of pictures and lyrics, I kind of wish more artists would do the same thing.

In that e-mail it said the book/shirt/hoodie was sent on February 15th and I still haven't received it.

In that e-mail it said the book/shirt/hoodie was sent on February 15th and I still haven't received it. My book was sent that day too and I got it Wednesday. With my CD it was entirely a different Situation. I live in the UK and it turned a week later than it should and I also had to pay a customs of charge of €10 at the post office. All I can think of is that they haven't paid enough for the postage. As your getting a lot that could be the problem.
